The SNRHA operates a wide array of public housing properties, providing thousands of housing units across Southern Nevada. These properties are part of a federally funded program supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), aimed at offering safe and affordable housing to those in need. SNRHA’s public housing program assists low-to-moderate income individuals and families, as well as seniors and persons with disabilities, by offering a range of rental options throughout the Greater Las Vegas Area. Through this program, SNRHA is committed to providing residents with secure, decent, and affordable housing, ensuring that all members of the community have access to homes they can afford. SNRHA accepts pre-applications when a wait list becomes open, but don’t worry you will be notified well ahead of time so that you can be well prepared to submit your pre-application well when the time comes.

How do I apply for housing?

Please visit the Applicant Overview webpage on our website.

What happens after I apply?

Your application will be screened to see if you are eligible for our programs.

If you pre-qualify:

A confirmation letter will be sent notifying you that you have been placed on the wait list. Once your name is added to the wait list, you must wait for your name to reach the top of the wait list before your name is selected and final program eligibility is determined. The confirmation letter (which will be the first letter you receive after we input your completed application) will be the only correspondence from our agency for sometime. It could be 12-18 months or longer before you receive a letter to come in to be certified as eligible. It is important that you immediately notify SNRHA of any changes in income, household composition or mailing address during this wait period. This can be completed in the RentCafe Applicant Portal.

What happens after I am certified as eligible?

Depending on unit availability or vacancies you may be offered a unit immediately or you may have to continue to wait. If you are not housed or offered a unit within 60-90 days we may have to re-verify the information that you supplied and an appointment letter will be sent to you. You can check your status once you are on the wait list by accessing our RentCafe Applicant Portal .

What are the requirements after I get a unit offer?

The Admissions staff will send you an offer letter when a unit becomes available that meets your family’s needs. Offers are made according to unit size requirements and date/time at which your application is certified as eligible and your ranking among other certified eligible applicants. Once you receive an offer letter, you must make contact with the property manager at the site where the unit is located within 5 calendar days. Our office will attempt to reach you to alert you of the offer.

My income or address changed. What is required?

If you have a change of contact information, you may submit a "Report A Change" via the RentCafe Applicant Portal within 10 days of the change. If you cannot be contacted, the Housing Authority may withdraw your application from the wait list, and you will have to reapply.
