Lewis Jordan

Executive Director

Lewis Jordan serves as the Executive Director of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, bringing over 40 years of extensive public and private management experience to the role. Throughout his career, Lewis has successfully led housing authorities of varying sizes, from large agencies managing over 50,000 units to medium-sized and smaller agencies with up to 3,200 units. This diverse experience has equipped him to collaborate effectively with resident leaders, staff, community partners, and stakeholders, addressing housing challenges while also developing strategies for underserved communities. As a former public housing resident, Lewis possesses a unique understanding of the issues and opportunities that residents face.

Throughout his career, Lewis has prioritized creating workplace environments that value employee contributions and has successfully developed and implemented initiatives promoting resident self-sufficiency. He actively seeks partnerships with community organizations and institutions that share a vision for improving resident outcomes. Notably, he has expanded landlord participation in the Section 8 program and oversaw significant increases in services for residents, including employment services and educational opportunities, leading to nearly doubling residents’ incomes over a decade.

Currently, Lewis is focused on utilizing HUD tools and processes to foster collaborative partnerships in the region aimed at increasing the availability of affordable housing units. He is dedicated to demonstrating the business case for reallocating vouchers in response to the rapid growth in Southern Nevada. His goals include enhancing public and private partnerships to create sustainable self-sufficiency models and improving service delivery through a customer-focused approach to provide better housing opportunities for families.

In his leadership role, Lewis oversees a $202 million operating budget and manages comprehensive housing programs and services for approximately 17,000 residents. Under his guidance, the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority has become one of the nation’s largest public housing authorities, providing the largest stock of affordable housing in Clark County.

A committed leader, Lewis focuses on purposeful integrated planning and collaborative efforts among agency staff, community partners, and government officials to preserve and expand affordable housing. He strives for impactful outcomes through strengthened landlord partnerships and coordinates the agency’s nationwide Developers Conference, which aims to inspire partnerships for developing affordable homes for low- and moderate-income individuals and families.

In support of his current strategies, Lewis works to maximize resources such as project-based vouchers to assist special populations, including veterans and the homeless. Under his leadership, the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority also provides a range of resources and support programs designed to enhance resident self-reliance and self-sufficiency. He oversees various funding programs, including the Capital Fund Program, Neighborhood Stabilization Program, and Rental Assistance Demonstration, managing millions of dollars each year to benefit the community.
